Surgical History of the Practice

The 26K practice occupies the address where Professor Paul Tessier, a distinguished surgeon, lived and worked — a symbolic place with a rich historical legacy.

At 26 Avenue Kléber, Professor Tessier established both his home and his medical clinic, combining family life with medical practice, as was customary at the time. It is at this emblematic address that everything began.

Professor Tessier became the father of craniofacial surgery and the first European to teach in the most prestigious universities and hospitals in the United States and Europe. In addition to being an exceptional surgeon, he was a remarkable man with sharp intelligence and extensive knowledge of French and European history.

A tireless worker, he performed more than 20,000 surgical procedures over his 40-year career.

His right-hand man and closest collaborator was Professor Jean-François Tulasne, with whom he partnered, bringing international recognition to their practice as a leading specialized surgical center.

Both are now considered among the greatest maxillofacial surgeons in French medical history.

In the 1990s, Dr. Franck Renouard joined Professor Tulasne. After Tulasne and other colleagues retired, Dr. Renouard continued to practice at the same location. He later partnered with Dr. Sofia Aroca, giving this historic site a new identity — thus, 26K was born.

Driven by a forward-thinking vision, they established two high-asepsis operating rooms, still in use today at 26K. Their professionalism and quality of care have earned them the trust of numerous colleagues who regularly refer their patients.

They envisioned and created two highly aseptic operating rooms that still exist today at 26K, and thanks to their work, many fellow practitioners entrust their patients to them.

Dr. Renouard gained worldwide recognition and became a pioneer in advanced implantology before retiring in 2024.

Dr. Aroca is internationally recognized for her dedication and commitment as a periodontist.

Entirely devoted to her profession, her patients, and the transmission of knowledge, she shares her expertise through lectures at universities and international congresses. Her numerous publications in leading scientific journals highlight her contribution to the advancement of periodontology.

Sofia is unquestionably the heart of the 26K practice. She has modernized the clinic and created a warm, family-like atmosphere while maintaining the highest scientific and surgical standards.

She has also surrounded herself with highly talented professionals: Drs. Darnaud, de Sanctis, Dancheva, Pichon, Escobar, and Cao.

The international Post-Graduate program in periodontology and implantology — directed scientifically by Professor Massimo de Sanctis — is a perfect example. Developed at 26K, it allows dental students and colleagues from around the world to receive training from internationally renowned professors.

Today, 26K is home to highly qualified professionals trained in Europe’s top programs in periodontology, implantology, and surgery.
